Some genuine Office Professional Plus keys don't activate over the internet straight away. Instead, Office asks you to activate “by telephone”. It sounds old-fashioned, but it's an official Microsoft activation method, and it takes about five minutes.
Is phone activation genuine?
Yes. Phone activation is built into Microsoft Office itself. It's one of the official ways Microsoft lets a licence be activated, normally used when online activation isn't available for that key. No extra tools, patches or downloads are involved.
The two numbers
- Installation ID: a long number (shown in groups) that Office creates from your key and your PC. It identifies this activation.
- Confirmation ID: the matching code that unlocks Office on that PC. You type it into boxes A to H.
Because the Installation ID is linked to your PC, don't restart, update or reinstall Windows between getting the Installation ID and entering the Confirmation ID.
How it works with Tecvane
